The hoard is believed to be part of a massive amount of treasure stolen by a Japanese general in World War Two. For decades, treasure hunters have searched for riches rumoured abandoned by retreating Japanese forces at the end of World War II. Now their quest seems to have been vindicated - with the discovery of the supposed Yamashita treasure. According to financial experts, the two-foot, bell-shaped lump of platinum - a metal more valuable than gold - would bring about 26 (m) million dollars on international markets. Palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium form a group of elements referred to as the platinum group metals. It is a metal used in many types of manufacturing processes and is found in electronics and industrial products. Palladium is an element found in the periodic table (atomic number 46), and is considered to be rare. The majority of the world's supply comes from mines located in the United States, Russia, South Africa and Canada. More than half the annual global demand of about 10 million ounces for palladium is from the automobile sector, while a quarter is used in other industries and in dentistry. Physically backed exchange-traded funds account for some demand, and about 4% of demand comes from jewelry. Car sales in China, the world's biggest auto market, are expected to grow by 11% this year to reach 24 million units out of the global total of 88.5 million, according to industry consultancy Frost & Sullivan. It expects U.S. sales to climb about 4% to almost 16 million. Barclay’s analysts say the Chinese government's plans to phase out 6 million old and environmentally unfriendly vehicles will create demand for 1.5 million passenger cars this year, which would further support the price of palladium. Palladium is also used in cars powered by natural gas, which is a growing niche offering in emerging markets such as India. Brazil, India and Russia are expected to experience robust auto-sales growth this year. India car sales in 2014 are expected to rise 10% to 3.2 million units. What is PALLADIUM? What does PALLADIUM mean? PALLADIUM meaning - PALLADIUM pronunciation - PALLADIUM definition - PALLADIUM explanation - How to pronounce PALLADIUM? Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Palladium is a chemical element with symbol Pd and atomic number 46. It is a rare and lustrous silvery-white metal discovered in 1803 by William Hyde Wollaston. He named it after the asteroid Pallas, which was itself named after the epithet of the Greek goddess Athena, acquired by her when she slew Pallas. Palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium form a group of elements referred to as the platinum group metals (PGMs). These have similar chemical properties, but palladium has the lowest melting point and is the least dense of them. More than half the supply of palladium and its congener platinum is used in catalytic converters, which convert as much as 90% of the harmful gases in automobile exhaust (hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen dioxide) into less noxious substances (nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapor). Palladium is also used in electronics, dentistry, medicine, hydrogen purification, chemical applications, groundwater treatment, and jewelry. Palladium is a key component of fuel cells, which react hydrogen with oxygen to produce electricity, heat, and water. Ore deposits of palladium and other PGMs are rare. The most extensive deposits have been found in the norite belt of the Bushveld Igneous Complex covering the Transvaal Basin in South Africa, the Stillwater Complex in Montana, United States, the Sudbury Basin and Thunder Bay District of Ontario, Canada, and the Norilsk Complex in Russia. Recycling is also a source, mostly from scrapped catalytic converters. The numerous applications and limited supply sources result in considerable investment interest.Palladium belongs to group 10 in the periodic table, but the configuration in the outermost electron shells is atypical for group 10 (see also niobium (41), ruthenium (44), and rhodium (45)). Fewer electron shells are filled than the elements directly preceding it (a phenomenon unique to palladium). The valence shell has eighteen electrons – ten more than the eight found in the valence shells of the noble gases from neon onward. Palladium is a soft silver-white metal that resembles platinum. It is the least dense and has the lowest melting point of the platinum group metals. It is soft and ductile when annealed and is greatly increased in strength and hardness when cold-worked. Palladium dissolves slowly in concentrated nitric acid, in hot, concentrated sulfuric acid, and when finely ground, in hydrochloric acid. It dissolves readily at room temperature in aqua regia. Common oxidation states of palladium are 0, +1, +2 and +4. Relatively few compounds are known with palladium unambiguously in the +3 oxidation state, though such compounds have been proposed as intermediates in many palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. Palladium(VI) was first observed in 2002. With a 44% world share of palladium in 2007, Russia was the top producer, followed by South Africa with 40%. Canada with 6% and the U.S. with 5% are the other substantial producers of palladium. Palladium can be found as a free metal alloyed with gold and other platinum-group metals in placer deposits of the Ural Mountains, Australia, Ethiopia, North and South America. For the production of palladium, these deposits play only a minor role. The most important commercial sources are nickel-copper deposits found in the Sudbury Basin, Ontario, and the Norilsk–Talnakh deposits in Siberia. The other large deposit is the Merensky Reef platinum group metals deposit within the Bushveld Igneous Complex South Africa. The Stillwater igneous complex of Montana and the Roby zone ore body of the Lac des Îles igneous complex of Ontario are the two other sources of palladium in Canada and the United States. Palladium is found in the rare minerals cooperite and polarite. Palladium is also produced in nuclear fission reactors and can be extracted from spent nuclear fuel , though this source for palladium is not used. None of the existing nuclear reprocessing facilities are equipped to extract palladium from the high-level radioactive waste. The largest use of palladium today is in catalytic converters. Palladium is also used in jewelry, dentistry, watch making, blood sugar test strips, aircraft spark plugs, surgical instruments, and electrical contacts. Palladium is also used to make professional transverse (concert or classical) flutes. As a commodity, palladium bullion has ISO currency codes of XPD and 964. Palladium is one of only four metals to have such codes, the others being gold, silver and platinum. Because it absorbs hydrogen, palladium is a key component of the controversial cold fusion experiments that began in 1989.

Jason Burack of Wall St for Main St interviewed returning guest, David Jensen http://www.safehaven.com/author/198/david-jensen from Vancouver, BC. David is a mining executive, he runs a private mining company, he is a paid consultant for the mining industry, he frequently writes articles for Safe Haven and he's a follower of the Austrian School of Economics. During this in depth 40+ minute interview, Jason asks David about his 2 most recent articles for Safe Haven talking about the enormous spike in lease rates for physical palladium on the LBMA and how this is indicating physical shortages of palladium for industrial end users. 1) http://www.safehaven.com/article/44561/londons-palladium-markets-metal-shortage-structure-and-irregular-appearance 2) http://www.safehaven.com/article/44504/palladium-blows-the-whistle-on-the-london-metals-market Jason and David discuss the supply/demand fundamentals of palladium and platinum and Jason asks David if this physical palladium shortage could signal that silver is not too far off from a physical silver shortage on the LBMA? Next, Jason asks David about the state of the precious metals mining industry including producing miners and junior explorers. Can their raise capital to drill? Can producing miners cut anymore costs? Jason and David discuss this and also discuss sentiment after 6 years of a paper bear market in paper gold and silver prices. David says how the dislocation between the paper market and the physical market has continued to widen. David thinks there's many similarities between what is happening now in the global economy and what happened to the global economy during the 1920s prior to the 1929 Great Depression and Black Tuesday. Jason and David go back and forth discussing this for awhile. Ein interessantes Video-Gespräch mit Greg Johnson, CEO von Prophecy Platinum: Prophecy Platinum controls one of the largest undeveloped platinum and palladium projects in the world. This mine could be one day the third largest producer of both platinum and palladium in North America after Stillwater Mining and Vale. Prophecy's exposure to platinum and palladium which could be in a supply deficit this year is a big advantage in a tough resource market. There are very few companies with top notch undeveloped projects. Prophecy's Wellgreen Deposit could be a major answer to fill North American demand for additional secure supplies from new mines in stable jurisdictions. The increase in demand for platinum and palladium can not be filled through recycling alone. Prophecy Platinum's Wellgreen Deposit which is already a major deposit has room to potentially grow. The company is working to develop some very exciting exploration targets, which they will be looking to drill later this summer. Disclosure: Author and Interviewer owns Prophecy Platinum and the company is a sponsor of my website.

THE PHILIPPINES IS THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD Did you know about – MARCOS GOLD? This was the “MARCOS WEALTH” that some POLITICIAN and CHURCHMEN kept on saying was the: “ILL – GOTTEN” Marcos Wealth.. Brief History From 1866 to 1898 , Prince Julian Macleod Tallano, who became titleholder of OCT 01-4 in 1864 – ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE OF TITLE 01-4 PROTOCOL ,The number 01 refers to the ONE NATION, known in pre – Hispanic times as MAHARLIKA. The number 4 refers to the original four regions og this nation:(1) Luzon (2) Visayas (3) Mindanao (4) Palawan , has been frequenting the Vatican. In 1934, under Pope PiusXII , the Vatican negotiated with the member of the Filipino Royal Family, the Christian Tallano clan in Maharlika. An agreement was reached that 640,000 metric tons of the Tallano gold would be LENT to the Pope. This was part of that gold accumulated by the Southeast Asian Srivijayan/Madjapahit Empire during its glorious reign of 900 years. In 1939, two members of the Tallano family and Roman Catholic Priest , Fr. Jose Antonio Diaz brought the gold from Kota Kinabalu , Sabah to the Vatican. After doing this, Fr Diaz went back to the Maharlika and resided in Cabanatuan City. After World War II , he facilitated the safe return of the 640,000 metric tons of GOLD from the Vatican tovthe Maharlika .Manuel Acuna Roxas( relative of the Acuna/ Tagean/ Tallano clan), then a congressman, and Bishop Enrique Sobrepena Sr, in the presence of Atty. Lorenzo Tanada, RECEIVED the gold in Manila. —————————————- There is good reason to believe, even from further along in this account , that the young attorney FERDINAND E. MARCOS was involved in the return of the GOLD. Certainly by all accounts we have seen jt was Ferdinand Marcos and Diaz who shared in the enormous 30% commission- that is 192,000 TONS of Gold worth around $4 TRILLION today(2006) – for handling this transaction. WHO CAN SAY THIS WEALTH WAS ” ILL- GOTTEN”? —————————————- A lease agreement was made between the Tallano clan and the Maharlika government. A total of 640,000 metric tons of gold was deposited in the newly installed Central Bank of the Maharlika to comply with its requirement for GOLD RESERVE. Under the terms of the contract , the Central Bank became the HOLDER of that gold. That LEASE agreement will EXPIRE in the year 2005. ~~~The Tallano Foundation has given notice of the termination of this 50 year lease following the additional 5 year discretionary period on December 31,2005 but remains unable to obtain an inventory of this asset even though the CENTRAL BANK( now Bangko Sentral Pilipinas ) is no longer entitled to HOLD the gold.~~~ ————————————— Having gained the trust and confidence of Fr Diaz, the Tallano clan made him the main negotiator and trustee of their gold. Fr Diaz in turn, hired the services of ATTY. FERDINAND E MARCOS. , then a RECOMMENDED BRILLIANT YOUNG LAWYER having attained notoriety when he successfully defended himself in the ” NALUNDASAN CASE” in 1939. Tha TALLANO clan paid commission to Fr. Diaz and Atty .Marcos in gold, 30% From the principal of 640, 000 metric tons. ————————————– In 1949. The two richest men in the world were Fr. Jose Antonio Diaz and Atty. Ferdinand E. Marcos . Between the two of them they legitimately earned and owned 192,000 metric tons of GOLD- from TALLANO CLAN and Maharlika Government. Ferdinand Marcos withdrew their share of the gold from the Central Bank and minted it ” RP -CB”. Sometime later, Fr.Diaz and Marcos brought their gold to SWITZERLAND , in the SWISS BANK CORPORATION in Zurich. The remaining 400,000 metric tons of TALLANO GOLD- ( Prince Lacan Acuna Macleod Tallano- son of Rajah Soliman Tagean and grandson of Maharajah Luisong Tagean) is in the third floor basement of the CENTRAL BANK MINTING PLANT in East Ave. Quezon City. There are 950,000 metric tons of Gold (declearedmissing in the International Court of Justice) picked up by Yamshita from its European ally, Hitler. ….. Let’s review some numbers at this point because there are certainly some unexplained LOSSES along the way. The Tagean- Tallano gold started at 720,000 tons . 640,000 tons were transported to the Vatican and back, leaving 80,000 tons unaccounted from the outset. Out of 640,000 tons, 192,000 tons were paid in commission, which should be leave 448,000 tons- but somehow hat number as become 400,000 tons , leaving another 48,000 tons unaccounted. Following this story there are 128,000 (80,000 plus 48,000) tons of gold which somehow ” slipped through the cracks” in addition to 192,000 earned in commission, WHEREABOUTS UNKNOWN.. Opppsss!!!

English/Nat Government officials in the Philippines have uncovered two tons of platinum worth around 26 (m)million US dollars. Tomoyuki Yamashita was the commander of Japanese forces in the Philippines towards the end of World War Two. He was rumoured to have gathered a huge amount of treasure which was buried in 170 locations in the Philippines. Known as the "Tiger of Malaya", he was executed for war crimes in 1946 and treasure seekers have been looking ever since. Government agents seized the platinum Sunday from a villager in Lallo, 250 miles north-east of Manila. Apparently a Japanese treasure hunter found the platinum in 1993 in the sea off Cagayan province, and gave it to the villager for safekeeping. But on his return the villager refused to give it back - so the treasure hunter reported the find to the authorities who have now claimed the precious metal. There is no certainty the treasure is part of the Yamashita hoard but the agent in charge of the operation believes the rumours to be true. SOUNDBITE: Allegedly, the informant in the case was the a son of a Japanese general, during World War Two, and before his father died, he was informed that there were hidden treasures of this kind in the place and he was provided with the necessary map in locating the treasure. SUPER CAPTION: Vincento de Guzman, National Bureau of Investigation By law, such treasures are considered government property. But according to officials, the unfortunate finder will be given a substantial share of the proceeds from its sale.
